Focus on Pluto — Mars and Venus
February 14, Mars conjunct Plutoth
Venus conjunct Pluto – February 17th
For twenty-five years I have known and experienced the power of the outer planets and call myself a “Neo-Vedic” astrologer. This week, Pluto aspects reach their peak, with Mars conjunct Pluto today and Venus conjunct Pluto on Saturday, February 17th. The impact could extend into Sunday. Both are short-lived but teach us more about Pluto. Pluto is associated with power, transformation, unconscious patterns and the death of old patterns.
Dennis Harness, talking about Pluto, noted:
“The discovery of Pluto by astronomer Percival Lowell in 1930 reflected the beginning of a new era of powerful dictators such as Hitler and Stalin, as well as the exploration of nuclear energy that led to the development of the atomic bomb. The theme of Pluto’s transformative and destructive power would continue throughout 1930 events in the 2001/2002 Pluto-Saturn opposition as of this writing. In mythology, Pluto is also known as Harbin. Hades means “unseen” or “made invisible”. The origins of Vedic astrology are attributed to the great sage Maharishi Parasara, at least thousands of years before astronomers “saw” Pluto and the other outer planets.
He went on to say that Pluto may be connected to Yama:
In Hindu mythology, Yama is the god of death and the agent of Lord Shiva. Yama means “the one who binds, restricts” and controls humans. …He is a God who requires sacrifice and discipline. He determines which human actions will or will not produce results. Then Yama judged the dead whom his messengers had dragged before his throne. His assistant Chitragupta cataloged the karma of all mankind and replayed major life events to help the soul fulfill its life’s work. ” See: http://dennisharness.com/plutoneovedic.html
On a personal level, this aspect is creating ambition for your life to complete large unfinished projects, using the energy to make major shifts in completing unfinished business in your life. The energy is there if you let it empower you.
In mythology, Pluto is also known as Hades, which means “unseen” or “made invisible.” Modern psychology associates Pluto and Scorpio with the unconscious and hidden parts of the psyche and personality. The late Narendra Desai also believed that in classical or Vedic astrology, Pluto is the upper octave of Mars, the ruler of Scorpio. This supports the rationale for the dominance of Scorpio over Pluto in modern tropical astrology. I find the surrender of the world to the Divine Will to be one of the highest aspects of Pluto energy.
Pluto is also closely associated with power, energy, masculinity, and transformation, a transit that is especially powerful for Aries and Scorpio risings. This conjunction occurs in Capricorn, with Saturn in Aquarius and the northern signs (Sagittarius 26.40 – Capricorn 10)
Still, this combination can bring out some darker energies, especially in the political sphere, and is a sign of increased seismic activity in the past, which can sometimes lead to more violence. Harness the energy this week for positive shifts and changes as well as personal transformation. It can cause huge outbursts of anger in some people and trigger violent attacks on an extreme level, so find a way to channel the energy and unleash its power.
If Mars is within 2 degrees of Pluto when you are born, you may have a strong personality, try to dominate or bully others, and have strong desires, a strong ego, great insecurities, and powerful sexual abilities. This trait in the natal chart may also lead to low self-esteem in adulthood, which overcompensates by trying to prove oneself sexually with too much masculine energy, competition, or threats.
February Venus conjunct Pluto on the 17thTH
Friday and Saturday, February 16-17, especially the conjunction of Venus and Pluto will bring about a dance around relationships. Be aware of power struggles. I find that Libra and Taurus rising signs have real difficulty with Pluto conjunctions, and if personal power is hindered, anger can burst out. Now is not a good time to try to control your spouse or force them in any way. Don’t use guilt or jealousy to control your partner or it might blow up in your face. This transit may bring a fascination with a new partner into your life, especially if you have a Capricorn or Cancer rising, but this may be fantasy, based on unconscious drives with no basis in reality.
If Pluto is connected to your 10th If your rising sign is Aries, then you may particularly experience abuse of power by supervisors, problems with new managers, inflated egos in the workplace, frustrations at work, feeling stuck at work or moving forward in your career, or someone Using you. If you are within 10 months, this may continue into the next 9 months.th House Dasha or Lord of 10th.
To solve these problems, find a new job, accept the status quo, choose your battles wisely, or use your creativity to work around them. If you notice something is wrong with your partner this weekend, avoid jumping to conclusions, getting into power struggles over who is right, digging up old wounds in your relationship, or expecting too much from your partner. Listen, be patient, avoid angry outbursts, stay emotionally connected, and give space when needed.
Pluto is the planet of transformation. Use these challenges to cope with difficult situations at work and in your relationships to reach new levels of growth and happiness.
