On February 24, 2024, we have Full Moon in Virgo 5°.
The Full Moon opposes Saturn and Mercury in Pisces and trines Jupiter in Taurus. The Full Moon in Virgo is an opportunity to examine our limiting beliefs about our role in the world.
Are we born to work, eat, and die, or is there a deeper purpose to our existence?
Thankfully, the trine to Jupiter will help us make practical improvements to find greater satisfaction in our lives.
The Full Moon is fundamentally an opposition, inviting us to integrate the dichotomy of the signs participating in the opposition.
We are currently in Pisces season. In order to fully embrace the Pisces agenda, we need to integrate the opposite qualities of Virgo.
What’s Pisces’ agenda? Gain divine consciousness. Pisces goals are, in a way, our purpose in life. When we raise our personal consciousness, we raise the divine consciousness.
But only by embodying Virgo can we fulfill the sacred 5D mission of Pisces: If we find meaningful ways to contribute in 3D. If we do something to leave the world a little better than we found it. If we serve the world.
Full Moon in Virgo – Service
This word ‘Serve‘ usually has a negative connotation. Doesn’t sound as sexy as the Leo spotlight.
Providing services is often associated with taking responsibility. But that’s not what service is about—at least not in Virgo’s book.
Service is not about being nice, giving stuff away for free, or fulfilling a duty to appease our dharma (or unconscious guilt).
Service is a natural aspect of our personalization.
Once we discover the true nature of our previous sign (Leo), providing service—or transforming our uniqueness into something purposeful—is the natural next step in our evolution.
When we follow the natural flow of life, we can’t help but turn our talents into something that creates some kind of value in the world. This is Virgo’s superpower: Virgos simply “know” the good in something.
Virgo, like Gemini, is ruled by Mercury. For Virgo, we don’t have the intelligence and mental methods of Gemini. Virgo’s perception is rooted in nature and matter. If Gemini is our brain, then Virgo is our gut—also known as the “second brain.”
Our guts are home to trillions of microorganisms that coexist in a complex ecosystem, each with a unique role in maintaining our health. We can infer that service is knowing what our role is in the ecosystem of life and then taking action based on that role.
The Virgo/Pisces axis is the axis of service. Pisces serves by being compassionate, holding space, and even sacrificing personal needs for the greater good.
Virgo’s approach to service is more specific. Virgo will assist in practical and measurable ways.Virgo’s way of helping is improve something that exists in a material, tangible way.
Virgo is also associated with work and gain. Virgo’s work shouldn’t feel like hard work, but more like reward. If something feels like hard work—if we hate doing it—then it’s probably not rooted in a true intention to serve.
Pretending to “provide service” becomes a shadow of Virgo traits: criticism, nagging, resentment or intellectual snobbery.
But how do we embody the natural qualities of Virgo without getting lost in shadow expression?
Virgo – the next step in our personalization process
If someone is born with Virgo traits, it doesn’t mean they are naturally good at everything Virgo does. on the contrary. They are born to learn and embody these traits. This applies to all signs of the zodiac.
“Baby” Virgo still has a bit of Leo in him. It’s easy to fall into the patterns of a previous sign while the qualities of that sign are developing.
We know that Leo is a unique creative expression of the self. Leo needs to be seen and appreciated. So of course there are some challenges when we try to be a Virgo but we’re still a Leo.
My favorite example is the Virgo saying “But I just wanted to help” to justify harsh words, criticism, or unsolicited feedback.
When we defend criticism by saying “I’m just trying to help,” we’re not real Trying to help. More likely, there’s some intellectual superiority behind Virgo’s “advice,” a “look how smart I am” motive that reminds us Leo of need for validation.
Integrated Virgo energy is naturally helpful. How do we know this? Because it solves problems, not creates them.Because it improves something rather than harms it.
Virgo energy is one of the most underrated drivers of progress and happiness.
Thanks to Virgo, we have agriculture and food on our tables. We have cities and sanitation. We have public transportation. We have well-organized systems and efficient processes.
In Virgo, we tame our inner lion through self-reflection and self-awareness. Mercury (Hermes in Greek mythology) is the guardian planet of Virgo and is the only god who can freely travel between the underworld and the human world.
Thinking and communication – the realm of Mercury – are facilitated through the process of introspection and reflection. With Mercury we are able to internalize what we perceive with our senses. Let’s go in.
Therefore, in order to harness the energy of Virgo, we need to access the underworld within ourselves and unite the conscious with the unconscious.
Full Moon in Virgo and the Kidnapping of Persephone
This process is reflected in the myth of the abduction of Persephone, a metaphor for Virgo’s state of consciousness.
Myth begins with Persephone tries to pick a daffodil. When she reached out to pick it up, the ground suddenly cracked. Hades (Pluto), god of the underworld, appears in his chariot, Kidnapped her.
Is it a coincidence that Hades kidnapped Persephone while she was trying to pick daffodils? not at all.
What does this metaphor tell us?
Narcissus (narcissus – narcissism) is a symbol of Leo’s self-driven qualities. Leo energy has a purpose: to bloom, to shine.
But there are also things like natural cycles, cycles of life. Nothing lasts forever – at least not in our 3D physical reality. That flower will eventually bear fruit. We can’t all be Leos all our lives. Time moves on. So is nature. So are we.
One day, we will naturally stop being like lions. In the Persephone myth, this is symbolized by Persephone’s kidnapping – just as she was about to pluck the daffodils. For example, “You are not a child anymore.” “It’s time to grow up and descend into the underworld within you.”
We can find this Virgo/Virgo archetype in mythology, fairy tales and folklore. “sleeping BeautyFor example, this is a metaphor for the Virgo state of our consciousness (integration with the Virgo polarity, Pisces).
Sleeping Beauty travels into the underworld in her sleep—much like Persephone follows Hades—to meet her unconscious form. When she was ready, the prince came and kissed her, waking her up. She can now enter the Libra state of consciousness.
Back to the Persephone myth.
Persephone was taken to the underworld and became the queen of Hades. There, she ate a few pomegranate seeds provided by Hades. Eating the food of hell binds her to that realm, preventing her from ever leaving.
Meanwhile, her mother Demeter, devastated by the loss of her daughter, neglected her duties as goddess of agriculture.
Finally Zeus intervened, and Persephone ended up spending half a year on earth with her mother, and another half a year in the underworld with Hades.
This arrangement creates the cycle of seasons.
Virgo – the integration of consciousness and unconsciousness
When Persephone ate the pomegranate seeds, she could never go back to the innocent girl who didn’t know the underworld. Psychologically, this is when she integrates her conscious and unconscious minds.
As she descends into hell and alternate living arrangements, the two worlds unite and create the Four Seasons.
The earth becomes fertile again, but in a seasonal, conscious way.
While the myth depicts a distraught Demeter, there is no mention of Persephone being distressed by becoming Queen of Hades and spending six months of each year in the underworld.
She naturally morphs between these two realms (Virgo is the mutable earth sign of the zodiac). This comes naturally to her.
This is her purpose, as a manifestation of pure Virgo energy.
This Full Moon in Virgo invites you to reflect on the Virgo steps in your personalization process.
Where do you need to restore balance to your life and align with the natural seasons?
In what area of your life do you need to “graduate” from Leo-like self-sufficiency and find deeper meaning in your actions and contributions?
