April 23, 2024, Full Moon at 4° Scorpio.
The Full Moon is squaring its own ruler Pluto (2° Aquarius). Power struggles, hidden agendas or subconscious desires may surface.
The Full Moon will reveal the less obvious ways in which our fears, resentments, or emotional baggage prevent us from truly “pushing in,” truly breaking free, and embracing new possibilities.
Full Moon in Scorpio Square Pluto
With Pluto squaring a prominent person in Aquarius, there is an element of social scrutiny or pressure at play. Many times, the reason we don’t go after what we want and realize our dreams is because we are afraid of what other people think.
What would they say if they found out who we really were?
It’s like, if others find out who we really are – good people – but especially bad and ugly people – then everything we’ve tried to hide from others, including ourselves, will come back to haunt us. What was seen, heard, and revealed could no longer be avoided; it needed to be dealt with.
We all have a dark side. The “dark side” is Scorpio’s territory. Scorpio is the calm, dark waters.
As a fixed water sign, Scorpio holds onto (fixes) emotions (water) like a deep reservoir.
Scorpio is all that is raw in our inner landscape, waiting for alchemy. When we process our feelings, transformation happens. Transformation, alchemy and self-mastery are the highest expressions of Scorpio.
But when we go through an intense emotional experience, we often don’t process it right away.
If someone upsets us, we don’t confront them, essentially avoiding the discomfort of intense emotional exchanges. We may not say anything to our face, but to release tension, we discuss it behind our backs. We resent them.
We try to get back at them, consciously or unconsciously. We say things with hidden meanings in an attempt to manipulate the situation or their perception of us.
Full Moon in Scorpio – Manipulation and Controlling Loyalty
Scorpios have two extremes – manipulation and loyalty.
Manipulation occurs when we avoid confronting our emotions and those of others. The opposite of manipulation is loyalty.
When we have made the transformation we deserve, we also have the ability to hold space for others. We understand when someone is striving to be the best version of themselves and we are not intimidated or put off by it. We support them.
Of all the virtues in the world, loyalty is one of the most precious. Loyalty is earned through hard work and often takes a lot of time to earn. But the trust and support that loyalty brings is definitely worth it.
Not everyone has a loyalty model. When our own parents or caregivers are disloyal to us, it can be difficult to even understand what loyalty means because we have no frame of reference.
A lack of fidelity early in our lives can lead to masking behaviors, dysfunctional relationships, and overall chaos in life.
These masking behaviors (rooted in a lack of trust and loyalty) often lead to social anxiety and a lack of clarity and purpose.
We might even say that the reason why we don’t evolve and go further in life, why we hesitate to pursue what we want and take control of our lives, is rooted in a lack of trust and loyalty.
What does loyalty mean? Going out with your friends every Saturday night? Want to answer a call at 3:00 in the morning? unnecessary. Many of our “loyalties” are rooted in “what’s in it for me”, habits, or transactional relationships “if you give me that, I’ll give you this.”
Loyalty goes beyond that.
Loyalty represents someone’s greater good. Sometimes this means solving problems through emotional confrontation.
When someone wants the best for you, they will be loyal to you. You are loyal to someone when you want the best for them, when you act in your best long-term interests, and represent the best version of yourself.
Loyalty is when people support each other. If someone says something bad about someone you are loyal to, you will stand up for them.
timeTalking about others behind their back may seem well-intentioned, but it is fundamentally disloyal. This means that the relationship is not based on honesty; if two people can’t work on their stuff one-on-one and vent elsewhere, trust is compromised.
Trust, love, intimacy—all the important things in life—have one ingredient in common: loyalty. Scorpio is an excellent sign and strives to embody this very important trait.
During this Full Moon in Scorpio, reflect on what loyalty means to you.
How does loyalty—and disloyalty—make you feel? How does the disloyalty of others reflect your own disloyalty—and vice versa?
Full Moon in Scorpio – Rocky shores resist the impact of the sea
The Sabian symbol of the Full Moon in Scorpio is “a huge rocky shore resisting the impact of the sea.”
Just as a rocky shore can withstand the unforgiving power of the sea, so too does loyalty require tenacity and commitment.
Like a rocky shore, we too must weather the storm and remain steadfastly loyal, anchored in what matters most in life: our values, our close relationships, and our dedication to change and personal growth.
