On March 25, 2024, we have Libra 5° Lunar Eclipse.
The Libra Lunar Eclipse trines Pluto at 1° Aquarius, giving us the opportunity to delve deeper into our relationship dynamics and change them for the better.
This is a South Node Snack. South Node eclipses bring karmic clearing. We tie loose ends in knots. We look back. We finish unfinished business.
Libra describes our relationship patterns. The South Node Solar Eclipse in Libra will prompt us to reflect on past relationships, reconcile unresolved conflicts, and release any lingering attachments or baggage.
We all know that humans are social animals.
But why do we need people? Why are relationships so important?
In one-to-one relationships—romantic, friendship, etc.—we attract what we are missing, or what can help us understand ourselves better and grow into our best selves. A partner becomes a mirror, reflecting back to us aspects of ourselves that we may not easily see.
We are particularly attracted to those who trigger our wounds, so that by acting out those wounded dynamics, we can heal them together.
Libra Lunar Eclipse – The Games People Play
Our relationships are reproductions of the relationships and relationship patterns we witnessed in the first years of life: those between our parents, caregivers, or family members.
We then unconsciously recreate these early dynamics in adult relationships so that we can “fix them.”
We play “games” or developmental patterns, recreating what we learned in the first years of our lives. Psychologist Eric Berne defines “game” as a pattern of behavior involving two people. There is a series of interactions, and an emotional payoff ensues.
These games are not about manipulation or power struggles; These “games” are unconscious; we don’t know we’re playing them.
We all play unconscious games—especially in relationships—by creating certain relationship dynamics that reenact familiar situations and emotional responses we experienced in childhood.
The attraction to repeat relationship dynamics experienced earlier in life is very powerful. Because of this familiarity and discipline, it’s easy for us to connect in certain ways and attract certain types of people in our lives.
We might tell ourselves: My partner is nothing like my mother/father. I have a partner who is an alcoholic, but my partner doesn’t drink. I successfully broke the cycle.
But if we dig a little deeper, we often find similar psychological drivers and relationship dynamics.
Yes, a partner may not drink, but their behavior may still reflect the underlying issues behind their drinking: perhaps they have trouble asserting themselves or managing their feelings. Even if partners don’t use alcohol to control, the underlying pattern remains.
The reason we attract people with a certain trauma or psychological profile is precisely to recreate an earlier pattern in the hope of understanding it and ultimately healing it. By healing the unavailable parent/partner dynamic, we heal ourselves.
Generally speaking, there’s nothing wrong with choosing a partner who reminds us of our parents. We are hardwired to do this so that we can eventually move to the next level of awareness and understanding.
But the key word here is “awareness.”
If awareness were not present, we would be trapped in an endless cycle of relationship repetition. When we have a new partner, things may start out differently and end up developing into the same type of relationship dynamics we’ve experienced many times before.
South Node Lunar Eclipse in Libra
There comes a time when you’ve had enough. “I’m just tired of this.”
The unconscious game has been played so many times that it has become conscious. “Ah, I’ve been doing it, now I understand”. “I always react to this trigger in this way and it leads to a very specific outcome”. “Things finally make sense”.
There will come a time when we realize that dwelling on the past is a dead end. Meditating on a million reasons why things are the way they are becomes an exercise in futility. There’s another way: We can leave the past where it belongs and turn our attention to what we have to do in the present. able Change.
Letting go does not invalidate our past. It doesn’t make our wounds any less real. But it does open up space for growth and healing.
The Libra South Node Eclipse on March 25 is an ideal time to release old relationship patterns that no longer serve us.
How do we let go of the past? How do we move forward?
Chiron, Mercury and North Node in Aries – Healing Our Identity Wounds
The answer to the South Node Solar Eclipse can be found on the North Node.
The Moon and South Node are in Libra; the Sun, North Node, Mercury, and Chiron are all in Aries. What can Libra learn from Aries?
While Libras are great at keeping the peace (and keeping everyone happy), Libras aren’t very good at asserting themselves.
We call Aries “confident,” as if it’s a competitive, almost selfish quality. It’s like we assume that if we go after what we want, someone else will lose it.
But that’s not what Aries is for. Aries is that spark of life that ignites, that fire, that “being”. Aries’ relationship with themselves and the world at large is instinctive.
Aries instinct contains profound wisdom. Aries energy is so alive, so rooted in the present moment, that it instantly captures the essence of a situation. From that place of engagement and energy, it “knows” what to do.
On the other hand, Libra energy has a tendency to overthink. To keep the peace, they may end up suppressing themselves or others: “You can’t say that.” “Don’t be so rude”.
While it is true that there are social norms that need to be adhered to, at the same time, our instincts, feelings, and behaviors are 100% reasonable.
Every little thing about you as an individual is the truth because you are the truth – you exist. Not listening to your inner knowing invalidates your existence.
Listening to Aries instincts is not synonymous with, nor does it justify selfishness, instant gratification, or harming others.
But you may find that when you are truly in touch with that part of Aries, that part of you that is alive, you are validating not just yourself, but everyone else.
To judge and criticize yourself is to deny your right to exist. To judge and criticize others is to deny their right to “exist.”
When we are unhappy with ourselves or where we are in life, we unconsciously reject or see faults in others. Judgment is a symptom of unhealed identity trauma.
Chiron will be conjunct Mercury and the North Node over the next 5 weeksoffers us a unique opportunity to heal the trauma of our identity—the wound that we were born with.
Over the next few weeks, Mercury will go retrograde on Chiron and the North Node, helping us untangle the stories of our past and rewrite our future. This time we can actually break the cycle of conditioning.
