March 20, 2024 Mercury conjunct Chiron at 18° Aries.
Mercury conjunct Chiron is an opportunity to dig deep into our wounds, identify patterns of self-sabotage, and reframe our understanding of ourselves.
Mercury and Chiron Conjunct in Aries – Why It’s Important
Mercury conjunct Chiron in Aries is not a typical Mercury transit.
Why?
Because Mercury will be spending an unusually long time in Aries due to its impending retrograde motion.
Mercury will remain conjunct Chiron and the North Node for an extended period of time, activating opportunities to revisit and rewrite self-sabotaging thought patterns.
During this time (active until May 7, 2024), we can heal by addressing old wounds and embracing new perspectives that are aligned with our highest potential.
The Mercury-Chiron conjunction on March 20, 2024 is the first in a series of 3 conjunctions. The other conjunction occurs on April 15, 2024 at 20° Aries (Mercury retrograde), and the third conjunction occurs on May 7, 2024 at 21° Aries.
While the exact date marks the transit’s peak energy, the Mercury-Chiron conjunction is active throughout the entire period – now through mid-May. This is an intense transit that will affect each of us.
Mercury and Chiron Conjunct in Aries – Identifying with Trauma
The conjunction of Mercury and Chiron occurs on Aries. Aries is the sign of “I am”. Aries is our identity.
Therefore, Mercury conjunct Chiron will trigger our identity trauma.
No matter how confident and accomplished we are, We all have deep-rooted identity traumabecause we’ve all suffered from feelings of rejection and abandonment at some point.
Whenever someone abandons or rejects us, it essentially questions our existence. “Do I have a right to be here?” “Does my existence really matter?” “Who am I?”
These are the fundamental questions that will arise from the conjunction of Mercury and Chiron in Aries.
Mercury Conjunct Chiron – Your Identity Trauma Story
Mercury in astrology represents “general narrative” – The way we understand the world, the generally accepted “story”, what we tell ourselves, what we believe is true.
so, Mercury conjunct Chiron will reveal the “general narrative” or story of our Chiron wounds. More precisely, the story of our identity trauma (Chiron in Aries).
The story of our wounds can be traced back to our family lineage, possibly going back several generations.
The North Node in Aries is also involved in this transit; Mercury is not only conjunct Chiron, but also conjunct the North Node.
The lunar nodes always appear at family dynamics, highlighting patterns passed down from generation to generation. If the South Node is the past karma that needs to be released and transformed, then the North Node is the opportunity to change our karma and rewrite our destiny.
When Mercury and Chiron and North Nodewe have a unique opportunity Study deep-rooted patterns passed down in our family, and Understand how they impact our personality and sense of purpose.
Here are examples of possible Mercury-Chiron narratives in Aries in the coming weeks:
“i have flaws“
This is when the person believes – due to real experiences of rejection or interpretations from family members suggesting that they are defective, perhaps because their family wanted a child with different qualities, a different gender, or a different appearance.
This rejection prompts them to change their personality to match expectations. Of course, this approach is self-defeating because we can only be ourselves and not others.
“i am a burden“
The child is born “by chance” or into a family with material problems or other types of burdens. The child is either abandoned in the hands of other family members or caregivers and/or is considered a burden.
They may be told “I sacrificed myself for you” and are essentially blamed for being an obstacle, preventing the parent from achieving their goals.
“I am a replica of my family“
In this narrative, children are expected to adopt the family’s values, beliefs, social behaviors, or social status. Any deviation from the “norm” is considered a betrayal.
Unconsciously, children believe that their existence is only justified within the context of the family “story” and that they cannot “exist” outside of this story. As a result, their unique personalities are invalidated and denied.
Children who struggle with this narrative believe they can’t rise above their family members. For example, if a family member does not go to college, the child may self-sabotage and “fail” college exams so that they do not change the family narrative.
“i am a sinner“
In this narrative, the child internalizes a sense of wrongdoing or guilt related to a natural impulse, desire, or pleasure.
Restrictive norms imposed by the family due to sexual repression, religious or cultural beliefs lead children to believe that their innate instincts and desires are sinful or morally wrong.
This inner conflict prevents children from fully embracing life, trusting their instincts, and reaching their potential.
In all of these narratives, Aries traits such as confidence, independence, and self-expression are suppressed.
These scenes are not meant to stir up resentment towards our families or make us feel like victims.
In fact, the more we study these family dynamics, the more we understand the deeper roots of these patterns. Our parents likely inherited these stories from their own parents, and this goes back generations.
However, just because these stories have been around for decades or even centuries, that doesn’t mean we have to continue to perpetuate them.
Mercury and Chiron Conjunct in Aries – Healing Identity Wounds
The good news is that the upcoming Mercury-Chiron transit—along with the North Node—is a unique opportunity to 1) understand the deeper dynamics of this identity trauma, and 2) rewrite this generational script.
Your family(his) story shapes you, but it doesn’t define you. You can break this cycle. You can rewrite the script.
you have no shortcomings. You are who you are – a unique individual who may or may not be similar to your family’s expectations or wishes. Your worth is something you are born with, not defined by what others think of you.
you are not a burden. There are many factors that go into the birth of a child. You are here for a reason; the fact that you were born into some difficult circumstances does not invalidate your existence.
You are not a replica of your family. Although we share DNA with loved ones, we are all unique individuals with unique stories and personal missions to fulfill. Your identity is not limited to the expectations or limitations set by your family.
you are not a sinner. Joy is the gateway to our essence and personal creativity. You can trust your impulses and your creative talents. They will guide you toward fulfillment and authenticity.
Mercury conjunct Chiron – the gift within the wound
You may be wondering─so why go through all this struggle? Why do we have to experience trauma and the challenges associated with it?
Because there is treasure hidden in the wound.
It is all the things we do to heal, all the lessons we learn, and all the strengths we develop to overcome adversity that shape our unique potential, ultimately transforming our wounds into our greatest gifts.
The upcoming conjunction of Mercury and Chiron on March 20, 2024 is just the beginning of the “wound story.” As the transit develops in the coming weeks, more and more layers will be revealed.
In addition to Mercury conjunct Chiron and the North Node, we also have Two powerful solar eclipses; There will be a lunar eclipse in Libra on March 25, 2024, with Mercury conjunct Chiron and the North Node; a solar eclipse in Aries on April 8, 2024, with an exact conjunction with Chiron.
These transits bring a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rewrite our karmic patterns.
This time we can actually break the cycle.
The coming weeks will provide more clues as to what exactly we need to do to rewrite our wound stories so that we can unlock our full potential and live the lives we are meant to live.
