George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” is a fable about some animals on the farm.
One day, the animals, led by a pair of pigs (Snowball and Napoleon)Wage a rebellion against the farm’s human masters.
The animals successfully drove him away and established “Animal Farm”. They agreed to adopt the Seven Commandments of Animalism as their constitution. The most important of these is the last commandment: “All animals are equal.“
But things didn’t go as smoothly as expected.
Napoleon takes Snowball off the farm and gives himself full leadership. As his behavior becomes more and more like their former human masters, he gradually breaks more and more of the commandments.
The climax comes years later when the animals discover Napoleon holding a whip (violating the commandments) and discover that all commandments have been reduced to “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.“
What does it mean?
New Moon in Aquarius – Some people are more equal than others
The “Animal Farm” metaphor suggests that the ideals of social justice and equality that inspired the animal revolution eventually collapsed under the corrupting influence of power.
Napoleon and the pigs have become like the humans they overthrew.
Likewise, our ideals may initially sound lofty and promising, but in reality they often fail to withstand the corrosive forces of power and self-interest.
It is more important than ever to reflect on the fragility of our ideals and their susceptibility to corruption, especially as we have a New Moon in Aquarius and a stellium in Aquarius.
Aquarius rules our hopes, dreams, and social causes that resonate with us; on a deeper level, Aquarius rules humanity—where our individual desires intersect with our collective vision for a better world.
New Moon in Aquarius – What Makes Us Human
The new moon occurs on February 9, 2024, at 20° Aquarius. The new moon is closely squaring its ruler Aquarius at 19° Taurus.
This consistency prompts us to think about the nature of humanity itself.
What defines our humanity?
There is a difference between what makes us individuals and what makes us human.
The essence of being human is not what makes us unique (Leo), but what makes us similar (Aquarius). As humans, we know that we are all in this together; if one of us is hurt, the entire human race is hurt.
If a war breaks out, will humans still choose sides? Is it okay for some people to die because they are “enemies”?
The world is not Counter-Strike territory. Everyone is someone’s son or daughter.
“There is no other way.” There is always a better way if we are willing to look for it.
But this requires us to stop operating from the perspective of “good” and “bad”, “right” and “wrong” situations.
Batman and the Joker are fictional characters. It was those who wanted to be heroes who created the Joker.
Everything can be justified through good and bad paradigms.when we struggle with this Some people, goals, or ideals (at the expense of others)—it’s worth reassessing our motivations. Are we really driven by human nature? Or are there other motives?
New Moon in Aquarius and Pluto in Aquarius
We are all human – and with that comes great power and great responsibility.
Remembering our humanity will help us avoid an Animal Farm situation from happening again.
Overthrowing the old – without compassion and respect for our common humanity – can lead to a cyclical scenario where new Pluto in Capricorn power structures replace the old ones, but without real change.
How can we do better?
I believe that before we can try to change the world, we first need to accept our duality—the good and the bad.
When the good guys and the bad guys were two separate entities, we had Batman and the Joker. When ego and Self are reconciled, we have a person.
When we make peace with our so-called dark side, we stop projecting it onto others. We don’t direct our energy toward supporting “just causes” and fighting “bad guys,” but rather toward self-improvement and cultivating a balanced perspective.
From this place, we can more easily take control of our humanity and operate in the world from a more aware, less polarized place.
New Moon in Aquarius – Humanity 2.0
The New Moon in Aquarius will raise some important questions about how we relate to society, ideals, and ideas about humanity.
The new moon is in a Tension aspect (square) to Uranus in Taurus. The New Moon is squaring its own ruler, creating an awkward “be careful what you wish for” scenario, where our own ideals, goals, and hopes for the future seem to run counter to ours.
We may be faced with some uncomfortable truths. We may be asked to do work we don’t enjoy doing, or to achieve our desires from a different perspective.
helpful!Another ruler of the new moon, Saturn, makesFavorable sextile to Jupiter.
As always, the universe provides us with the tools to face challenges and grow into the next best version of ourselves.
We can become a more aware person—today, tomorrow, and every day.
This is the first new moon in Aquarius, the sign where Pluto is also present. This is a unique opportunity to connect with our inner power and change the paradigm by which we perceive and engage with the world.
The New Moon in Aquarius on February 9, 2024 may be the beginning of a whole new chapter in our lives.
